Pack smart for an adventure trip - here's your essential checklist.
Carry lightweight, quick-dry T-shirts and shorts for rafting and outdoor activities. Avoid cotton for water sports.
Aadhaar, Voter ID or Passport is mandatory for all travellers and required for adventure activity sign-ins.
Closed-toe sandals or water shoes with grip are essential for rafting and waterfall treks. Avoid flip-flops.
The Ganges valley sun is harsh. SPF 50+ sunscreen and UV-protected sunglasses are a must, especially on the raft.
Rishikesh evenings can be cool, especially near the river. A light jacket or fleece for bonfires and post-rafting comfort.
Protect your phone, wallet and valuables during rafting. A small waterproof pouch or dry bag is highly recommended.
Real experiences from thrill-seekers who explored Rishikesh with us.
The rafting stretch from Shivpuri was an absolute blast - rapids were wild and the guides were brilliant. Bungee jumping was terrifying in the best way. 10/10 would come back!
Came with my college group of 8 friends and this was the best trip of our lives. The camp was cozy, bonfire was magical, and the Ganga Aarti literally gave us goosebumps.
Great value for money. Flying fox over the Ganges was a highlight. The waterfall trek was scenic and peaceful. Only wish the rafting stretch was a bit longer, but loved every minute!
Book bungee in advance. Slots at Jumpin Heights fill up fast, especially on weekends and in peak season. Reserve your slot at least 2-3 days ahead.
Don't eat heavy before rafting. Have a light breakfast on rafting day. Avoid spicy or oily food at least 2 hours before getting on the water.
Listen to your safety guide. Rafting guides are trained professionals - follow their paddle commands immediately, especially near Grade III and IV rapids.
Keep phones in a dry bag. The Ganges will get you wet! Rent a waterproof case from your camp or bring your own for the rafting stretch.
Attend Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat. It happens every evening at sunset. Arrive 20 minutes early to get a good spot - it's one of the most moving experiences in India.
Pre-summer season - moderate weather, river levels ideal for rafting, fewer crowds.
Post-monsoon - clear skies, swollen river for thrilling rapids, pleasant temperatures.
Avoid - heavy monsoon, rafting restricted by authorities, landslide risk on treks.
Off-season - cold but peaceful. Rafting still available; yoga retreats very popular this time.
